Covid Communication Concerns for the Hearing-Impaired, Marla Ball, Sign Language Instructor, Penn State DuBois Continuing Education Marla Ball is a sign language interpreter and instructor who has helped interpret for many hearing-impaired residents in our region. Masking has been an essential part of the COVID process. However, for those with hearing impairment, masking only complicates an emergency healthcare situation. This program will provide a new perspective for frontline healthcare providers as they encounter hearing impaired patients and the unique issues that are created when masking is a priority and how providers can make their hearing-impaired patients more comfortable during their care.
