Biochar is a charcoal-like substance made by thermally treating organic material from urban, agricultural and forestry wastes (also called biomass) in a controlled process called pyrolysis. Three experts in the production and use of biochar will discuss and provide examples of the conversion of urban organic residues to biochar for use in urban landscaping, restoration of urban soils and green infrastructure.
