PSO Education Series: Sixty Years and Counting - The Past, Present, and Future of Avian Research at Powdermill
Powdermill Nature Reserve, Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s environmental research center, boasts the longest, continuously-run, year-round bird banding station in the country. The ornithologists there have been banding birds for over 60 years and facilitating countless avian research projects, making many important contributions to scientific literature. Annie Lindsay will review avian research and discoveries made at Powdermill, and present trends in songbird populations, behavior, and morphology using the six-decade banding dataset, then discuss plans for expanded research and outreach with the addition of the new banding facility at Powdermill.
