Christine Masters
01:04:20
Will the plan requirement term change when a student ADDS a major, or only when a student CHANGES their major?
Christine Masters
01:07:05
When will we see the new audits? When we have SU18 students to look at, or can we set the Program Requirement Term to FA18 in a what-if audit for a current student if we want to see the new audit now?
cms578
01:09:21
Wondering if "double fulfill" would be the better language to use vs. "double count" when explaining to students.
Christine Masters
01:14:23
If a student has taken 6 credits of GH, but both are inter domain courses, how will the GH section of the audit indicate that the category is not yet fulfilled?
Christine Masters
01:22:04
Currently, instead of using a course directive for the 9-6-3, we are changing the anticipated number of credits for the two different generations ed categories. Can we no longer do that with the move 3 ?
Christine Masters
01:23:00
Sorry I asked that question too early. Question answered by the next slide.
anw114
01:26:06
For a major that requires a large number of science courses (such as GNs for an engineering major) will the "extra" GNs automatically count in the 30-credit section or will only 9 of them count there without petitions being done?
ktl2
01:26:30
How about, "satisfies two requirements"?
Emily H. Thomas
01:26:50
I advise many 2-year students and understand that they will not be under these new requirements. Will they be permitted to take Interdomain courses? If they are, how will the degree audit read those courses?
Christine Masters
01:30:04
thanks!
YVETTE PAMELA RICHARDSON
01:30:07
In your example, the METEO course counted as three credits in both GN and GH, so wouldn't both of those appear to be done even though they are short on total credits?
COURTNEY WOZETEK
01:30:47
Wait... so the METEO will show up in both domains?
map54
01:31:10
If the quantitative requirement now requires a C or better what happens to the students who are still on the old plan is a D still acceptable for them
anw114
01:31:33
For majors that previously didn't have any electives, will an electives section be added to the audits for students who are efficient in scheduling?
Mandy Thompson
01:31:36
So how will you know if its actually 6 credits? or 3 credits if its double fullfilling?
Paula Plageman
01:31:44
If there is math required by the major, but does not have a C or higher requirement and a student receives a D, could they take a lower level math to fulfill the GQ with a C or higher?
YVETTE PAMELA RICHARDSON
01:31:56
how does the total of 30 catch everything if there can be extra GN's added into the 30?
jln1
01:31:58
Still am confused how the interdomain get assigned to 4 different domain areas but only count as 6 credits. This is what you are discussing now. Does the area(s) needed to be fulfilled grab the credits automatically?
J RICHARD BRUNGARD
01:32:24
I see on the Search of Classes that some Interdomain courses show the combined sections as one being full and one being open. Does that mean then that the course cannot be scheduled?
Mandy Thompson
01:32:45
Yes if its listed twice...
anw114
01:33:36
For the question about the electives section - they might be filling the 30-credit section with extra GNs required for the major. If they are doing a move 3 with a course they already needed for their major, they would need an elective to make up for it.
Mandy Thompson
01:33:58
SO will it show in one area as counting? and in another area as NOT counting? Since it won't be technically double counting?
Mandy Thompson
01:37:06
That seems like it will be confusing to read your academic requirements- gen ed areas.
YVETTE PAMELA RICHARDSON
01:37:29
To clairfy my previous question, the 30 credit check does not seem to ensure there are the right number in each domain, given that you could add multiple GNs to get to 30 while being short in the other domains.
ggg3
01:39:05
Scheduling questions should probably go to their specific departments. Many of us have controlled and/or closed the ID courses for NSO
jln1
01:40:36
If an interdomain course (GH/GA) gets pulled into GH on audit but then student takes another (GH/GS) and they would rather that first one have counted as a GA, how does that then occur?
Jackie Schwab
01:40:43
If a major requirement course becomes an interdomain course will it count in associate and baccalaureate majors (ex. HDFS 129N)?
YVETTE PAMELA RICHARDSON
01:41:21
But the domains don't seem to ensure the credits because the ID courses are used in both domains but don't add up to 6 credits.
YVETTE PAMELA RICHARDSON
01:41:56
e.g., one ID course shows it "satisfies" six credits but is really only 3 credits
Christine Masters
01:44:20
Why would it matter if the GH/GA vs GH/GS course was fulfilling the GH requirement?
anw114
01:44:41
For the engineering student we were talking about who could be 3 credits short for graduation, where do those three credits go so that we can make the totals complete? For majors with an electives section, we could increase the number of credits that could go into the electives section to make up for double-fulfilling that happened elsewhere on the audit.
Christine Masters
01:44:47
The GH/GA can’t fulfill the single domain requirement for GA.
J RICHARD BRUNGARD
01:46:14
Free Elective?
COURTNEY WOZETEK
01:46:35
I'm looking at the GenEd Check Sheet from the website. It appears that only 6 GN credits are required. Do those additional 3 credits then have to come from interdomain or a MOVE 3?
COURTNEY WOZETEK
01:48:01
Additional 3 credits being the total of 9 credits of GN that the audit is looking for
Anna Eichner
01:48:15
Do students have to take 6 credits of pure (non interdomain) GN?
jln1
01:49:03
How do exploration courses play in here?
COURTNEY WOZETEK
01:50:05
But they still need 9 GN, 6 GA, 6 GH and 6 GS
Michael Polgar
01:50:14
If students take two linked courses for integrated studies, must students take both of these linked courses in a single semester?
COURTNEY WOZETEK
01:51:04
I'm finding possibilities on the worksheet that don't seem to align to what the audit wants
COURTNEY WOZETEK
01:52:29
And the MOVE 3 can still only be done once, correct?
Christine Masters
01:53:10
A student who does linked courses late in their studies and not in the same semester runs the risk that they might not get a seat in the second linked course. Any thoughts on helping students safeguard against this?
COURTNEY WOZETEK
01:53:43
Safeguard = take interdomain ;-)
Christine Masters
01:54:43
