Penn State’s contract for Symantec antivirus software will end on August 22, 2020, and the University has decided not to renew the contract. This change will result in cost savings, and reduce redundancy since faculty and staff members are also covered by Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) for systems owned by Penn State. However, anyone who downloaded Symantec through the University onto a personal device will be required to remove it, and a replacement antivirus solution for personal devices will not be offered by the University at this time. If you would like more information on Microsoft Defender ATP, please email defenderatp@psu.edu.The Office of Information Security website and the downloads.its.psu.edu site have been updated to reflect this new direction. The former also now lists free, alternative antivirus solutions that can be recommended for personal devices.

Is the Undergrad dean's office going to create an undergrad staff support group/hold weekly/monthly meetings? I think specifically with the pending announcement it will be helpful.
