I wasn't sure if this meeting was still scheduled for 5PM ET or if it was moved to 6PM ET?
Oh you know what? I think you are correct! LOL...
See ya in a bit. ?
My notes to self stated 5:00 CST. I didn't want to miss it so I joined early.
how are you Jan?
great question Jennifer.
We have already brought it up - it was not considered for one minute. Has anyone else already brought it up to administration?
Meeting tomorrow on this topic
Ellen Price from CAPTE also addressed this last week about "video testing"
What did Ellen Price say about it?
Depends on the content you are testing
Ellen said there would be no video or virtual options for clinical but assessing skills by competency or practical at instructor discretion
someone suggested filiing a long sleeved shirt and pair of pants with towels to simulate a patient
I like that idea for some skills--thanks Kathy
We are doing "conditional grades". They get a grade for the didactic portion. Once we get back to school and the lab component can be assessed the grade will be changed to the all inclusive grade.
What about liability if they do techniques on others/family?
For virtual skill assessment, if a student is using a friend/family member as mock patient, how are programs addressing liability? Is the human subject signing a liability waiver?
Have the state boards considered that the student is finished all but the final 100 hours of their capstone clinical - would they change their rules to allow Authorization TO Test?
@CooperA, we're using the same waiver used if someone comes into lab
NY State does not allow us to decrease hours as CAPTE is allowing right now. They are concerned about awarding credits for work not completed. We had to get pre-approval for those 100 hours.
Pre-approval for an alternate plan to make up those hours...
What about liability if they do techniques on others/family? Is a waiver form enough?
Hi Nancy, Would you be willing to share your forms?
Also, how can I find the google docs for PTA SIG?
The PTA Educator Google doc of educational resources can be found at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19Mk8GJpgRSkJN7FlEtCUCWb3AT2STBpPElnGvUyWT3I/edit?usp=sharing
I have told my students it would be 1 minute per question with a bonus 10 minutes - so 10 MCQ questions - test time will be 20 minutes. I am testing in Blackboard
I have just offered private calls / Zoom meetings for feedback
I am currently having open zoom tutoring at a set date and time so students can jump on if needed along with personal zoom meetings as needed. I am going to continue with this once we get back to "normal"
