Discussion Series with the CIES Director and New Faculty for Fall 2021
The purposes of these discussions are to learn about the new Consortium for Integrated Energy Systems (CIES) mission, meet the new CIES-focused faculty, and discuss technical and social challenges related to rapidly changing our energy infrastructure while providing fair and equitable solutions for a global community.

Each hour-long session will have an open format to encourage discussions. Each session will be energized by a ~10 minute presentation on the topic led by the Director or others.

September 15 (noon)— Topic 1: What is the CIES and how will it help Penn State and researchers address the Energy-Climate-People nexus?

October 14 (4 pm)—Topic 2: Energy transitions- How fast can the US Energy Infrastructure decarbonize to 50% and 0%, and will planned infrastructure changes help to achieve a carbon negative energy system?

November 12 (3 pm)—Topic 3: Why is transforming the energy infrastructure to renewables different (or the same) from other global challenges such as addressing overpopulation, poverty, and sanitation?
Meeting is over, you can not register now. If you have any questions, please contact Meeting host: Bruce Logan.
